Project Overview
Community Capacity Building focuses on the repeated process that promotes effective local leadership, which in turn motivates the community through its members to take responsibility for their own personal and communal growth. Empowering the community on efficient conservation protocols required a lot of convincing. Our goal was to empower the society to embrace and promote alternative energy sources e.g. solar energy, rather than cutting down trees for domestic use.
The greatest challenge was convincing the community of the benefits in the long-run. Many locals and leaders had no prior knowledge on the impacts of Global Warming and its effect on the environment and the climate in general.
The overal result was a gradual shift to the alternative sources of energy available. We managed to donate 43 solar panels to various homesteads for their daily use. We also supplied fourteen 6kg gas cylinders to homesteads with over five family members. This endeavor, even though we were not able to supply to all the homesteads, really motivated the community to shift their thinking towards environmental conservation.
